However, they must pass an exam to obtain their license and work near a doctor.
A massage therapist must attend a massage school in their state and follow state laws. Different states have different laws for licensing a massage therapist. Usually, this requires about two years of schooling (sometimes less, depending on the teaching structure), and students must be certified before they are allowed to practice on patients. A massage therapist often works in a physical therapy office or in a chiropractor’s office.
